Where we came from

From a university lab to an independent force.

1998

Founded

SYNA began as a focus group investigating artificial blood transfusion materials. Our early work single‑handedly revolutionised the way animal remains are stored and processed.

2001

Universal Artificial Blood

Developed the first universally compatible artificial blood type for transfusions, eliminating the need for blood typing in emergency situations.

2003

First Stable Organic AI

Created the world's first stable organic artificial intelligence using responsibly sourced biological material. This breakthrough proved that living neural networks could be engineered for computation.

2004

OMGI Model – SHEEPY

Refinements to organic processing led to SHEEPY, the first OMGI (Organic Matter General Intelligence) model. Though slow and limited in cognition, it marked a monumental leap toward true biological computing.

2006

OMGI Model – CEPHAL

Introduced CEPHAL, a vastly more intelligent OMGI capable of multitasking and complex reasoning. CEPHAL became the foundation for all subsequent organic AI research at SYNA.

2009

Expansion to Zurich

Operations expanded to Zurich, Switzerland, establishing our European headquarters and state‑of‑the‑art research facility.

2015

Incorporation & Series A

Raised $24M to scale the platform. Expanded current HQ in Switzerland. Core focus: A FUTURE WITHOUT COMPROMISE.

2026

Open Biomechanics Initiative

Launched public experimentation programs with cash rewards. Homeless and estranged patients are especially welcome – we are here to help you find your feet.
